A major road accident resulting in the death of one driver and seriously injuring another occurred on a stretch of road on the N21 between Feulen and Mertzig.

(ADW) A major road accident resulting in the death of one driver and seriously injuring another occurred on a stretch of road on the N21 between Feulen and Mertzig.
The incident occurred on Friday night at about 6:30pm when, according to police, an Audi driver travelling towards Feulen, attempted to overtake a Seat in front of him. However during the manoeuvre, the Audi was faced with an oncoming VW Polo and crashed head-on and with force into it. The Audi was then thrown off the road and into a ditch.
A delivery truck, travelling behind the Polo and the Seat were also involved in the accident.
The scene after the accident was that of devastation with broken glass, tyres and other vehicle parts strewn across the road.
One dead and one seriously injured
After the violent collision, the 41-year old Audi driver from Steinfort died at the scene. The VW Polo driver suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital, her condition described as stable. According to police, the woman is no longer in any danger.
Occupants of the other vehicles involved in the accident escaped suffering from shock.
The measuring and monitoring service of the judicial police have now launched an investigation into the cause of the accident or rather; discover just what took place.
The N21 where the accident occurred remained closed for a virtually the entire evening while the salvage operation and investigation took place.
