(ADW) Luxembourg businesses are better connected to the internet than the European average. However reports show that they do not use it to its full potential.
97% of companies in the Grand Duchy have access to the internet in comparison with 95% of European companies. This connection is measured at 93% for broadband compared to 87% in Europe. These figures are part of a report presented by Eurostat on Tuesday.
Luxembourg companies have widely integrated internet in their business as 75% of them own a website compared to 69% in Europe. However, it appears that the possibilities of the web is not being used to its full potential. Only 15% of sites in Luxembourg offer the possibility to order, reserve or buy online, lower than the European figure of 17%.
Internet also seem less used in Luxembourg than in the rest of Europe in relations between government and business. 58% of companies send electronic forms to state administration, compared to 69% of European companies.
