A pregnant version of Luxembourg's iconic golden lady statue is to go on display at a renowned art gallery in the US.
The Lady Rosa of Luxembourg, by Sania Ivekovic, will be unveiled for the first time at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York on Sunday as part of a retrospective of the artist.
The controversial feminist take on the classic Gëlle Fra statue provoked a mixed reaction when it was first revealed in 2001. Placed next to the Gëlle Fra in Place de la Constitution, it was perceived by many in Luxembourg as a provocation because it showed a national symbol pregnant.
The sculpture was also inscribed with words which some found offensive, such as whore, bitch and virgin.
The sculpture will remain in New York until the exhibition, Sanja Ivekovic: Sweet Violence, closes on March 26 when it will be moved to the Mudam, in Luxembourg.
