Scores of people gathered for an annual vigil in Tandel on Friday to remember the allied forces who helped to liberate Luxembourg from the Nazis.
The Night Vigil, organised by Friends of Patton's 26th Infantry Division, offered a poignant evening of speeches, presentations and music, transporting those present back 67 years' in time to the horrors of the Battle of the Bulge.
Among the dignitaries present were US ambassador to Luxembourg Robert Mandell and British ambassador to Luxembourg Alice Walpole, as well as Chamber of Deputies president Laurent Mosar.
The Vigil kicked off with a tour of historic military vehicles around the village of Tandel, near Diekirch, before guests gathered at the school for speeches and prayers.
As well as the allied soldiers, the ceremony was an opportunity to remember the German soldiers.
Following a 21-gun salute, guests were treated to an evening of songs from the 1940s by Forces' Sweetheart Kas.
