(CS) Only six students attended a protest against the planned school reform at the Place Guillaume yesterday, after the national students' council refused to support the move.
Organised via the social networking site Facebook, the planned demonstration was declared as a private event, with some 357 people saying they would attend.
It emerged, however, that the organisers were attached to Adrenalin, the youth group of the ADR, a right-leaning party in Luxembourg.
Leading up to the protest, the "Conférence nationale des élèves du Luxembourg" (CNEL), the national students' council, had called on students not to attend the protest.
CNEL representatives said they were involved in talks about the reform and that impulsive, ill-considered actions would not benefit the process. Additionally, the CNEL criticised that it was not obvious that political group Adrenalin was behind the event.
While the organisers claimed it was irrelevant to the cause that they were associated with ADR, the CNEL took a distanced stance as the students' official representatives.
