Police were called out 40 times during the course of New Year's eve because of firework-related incidents.
Noise pollution, vandalism, runaway dogs and injured pedestrians were among the types of emergency calls received.
One man suffered serious injuries to the face when a firework was launched in rue du Château in Pettingen. The victim was reportedly passing by a café when he was struck in the face.
In another incident a man threatened his neighbour with a gun for firing off fireworks after midnight. Police attended the scene in rue du Tilleul, Wiltz, and conficsated three weapons and ammunition from the angry man.
Vandals damaged property in Bascharage when they set off firecrackers at during the night. Bascharage then saw a second incident when a group of young people set off firecrackers in a school yard. The incident led to a confrontation with a passerby in which police were forced to intervene.
A car was also damaged in rue Lemaire, Differdange, when a firework was set off.
Because of the loud noise created by exploding fireworks, police received 12 calls regarding runaway dogs.
They also dealt with a number of brawls, including one in rue Joseph Junck when a man threatened another with a machete.
