If you're a local musician or group and want to show off your music talent, why not brand your band?
After a successful launch last year, the Brand Your Band contest is back with a vengeance once again bigger and better than ever for 2012.
For those that don't know, Brand Your Band is an original yet relatively simple concept for local bands to compete for top music prizes. Where the contest differs from others is that no performance on a stage is required!
Puzzled? The idea is that bands submit recordings of their songs done themselves via the Brand Your Band website to compete for a host of prizes for the winner to help boost, or rather “brand” their band with the aim of promoting and launching them into the daunting music industry world. And the whole thing launches on Monday 9 January.
Last year's contest winners are proof of the support for their musical career. The Gambling Badgers won a professional recording of the track they submitted entitled “Dance”, a well-produced video clip to go with it, an identity or “brand” package, and help with media exposure.
The competition helped the band go on to release Dance as a single that climbed the national charts, perform at several major festivals including Food For Your Senses in 2011 as well as a host of smaller gigs and of course become known in the Luxembourg music scene. “Brand Your Band helped us to become more experienced and of course brought us quite a reputation in our small country, leading to radio interviews and of course our single release,“ explained Dennis Nnganyadi, The Gambling Badgers lead singer.
This year's prize list has an addition to it: A video diary of the winning band showing their progress from day 1 to be put up on the BYB website.
The Brand Your Band team consists of young professionals in the domains of audio, video, design and photography with ample experience in music and video production and the entire project is supported by the “Youth in Action” programme.
Should you wish to take part in this year's contest, all you need to do is submit your song online at the website www.brandyourband.lu The quality of the recording is not important. After all, one of the prizes is a professional recording!
Anyone aged from 13 to 30 in a band from Luxembourg can take part. You have from now until 29 February to enter.

Good luck to all you young bands out there!
