(ADW) It is only 10 January, yet already today is the second time since the beginning of the year that the cost of diesel has gone up. As of Tuesday a litre of diesel costs €1.262. That’s a rise of 3.2 cents, the highest rate since July 2008.
Just a year ago, a litre of diesel cost €1.116. Since then, the financial crisis swept the world and of course the value of the euro suffered, factors making petroleum products more expensive. This means that as of Tuesday, filling up your car with diesel will costs almost 15 cents more.
The record reached in July 2008 was €1.301 per litre for diesel. A record many are hoping will remain and not be beaten in 2012.
Diesel heating fuel has also seen an increase. 10 ppm S rises to €0.834 (+3.2 cents) and 1000 ppm S to €0.824 (+3.5 cents).
