A man was violently attacked and robbed as he returned home on Wednesday night.
According to police, the victim had just opened the door to his apartment building when he was attacked from behind and struck over the head.
Despite attempts to defend himself, his attacker hit him repeatedly on the head and threatened him with a gun. When asked for money, the victim handed over his wallet before the attacker punched him in the face and fled on foot.
The incident occurred at around 9.45pm at the entrance to a block of flats in rue des Champs, Luxembourg City. The attacker was about 1.8 metres tall, of south-eastern European origin and had short, dark, curly hair. He had a distinctive mole above his right lip and wore a leather jacket with white trainers. It is believed that he fled down rue Tubis.
The victim was seriously injured and required hospital treatment. Anyone with information relating to the incident is urged to call Luxembourg police on 113.
