THEATRE & OPERA
January 20-22, Aladdin, Château de Bettembourg, Various
Delve into the magic world of panto with Pirate Productions' rendition of Aladdin. Boo, hiss and cheer at this unconventional rendering of a traditional fairytale. Join the thigh-slapping family fun on Friday at 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.
January 20&21, Akram Khan & Nitin Sawhney “Confluence”, Grand Théâtre, 8pm
From Sadler's Wells in London to the Grand Duchy, composer Nitin Sawhney and choreographer Akram Khan bring their latest collaboration. “Confluence” sees five dancers take to the stage with six musicians, combining contemporary dance and traditional kathak dancing.
January 21, The Enchanted Island, Utopolis & Utopia, 7pm
The latest installment of the MET opera series brings a premiere of an original piece by the Metropolitan Opera. Drawing on Händel, Vivaldi the baroque opera sees Shakespeare's lovers from A Midsummer Night's Dream shipwrecked in the world of The Tempest. William Christie directs the all-star cast including Plácido Domingo as Neptune.
January 21, Eugene Onegin, CAPe Ettelbrück, 8pm
The Opéra de Fribourg, Compagnie Opéra Eclaté and Opéra de Massy present Tchaikovsky's 1879 opera. Based on a verse novel by Alexander Pushkin, the plot sees a young selfish man live to regret his rejection of love leading to a duel with his best friend.

MUSIC

January 19, One Night of Queen, Rockhal, doors open 7pm
Gary Mullen will bring you as close to Freddie Mercury as you can get in his tribute act. Together with The Works, Mullen will bring the classic Queen tunes such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now and We Are the Champions to the Rockhal.
January 20, Battle of the Bands, ISL, 7pm
The International School's finest bands will go up against each other at this battle of the bands. Head to school's Merl site to see some fresh talent and support the aspiring rock stars.
January 21, Baxter Dury, Exit07, 9pm
Dury brings melancholic folk pop, with an edgy twist, together with his mellow yet gritty voice. His 2011 album Happy Soup brings some lightheartedness to the down to earth tunes.

January 20, Indonésie de Maumere à Komodo, Centre socioculturel Prabbeli Wiltz, 8pm
Photographer Mona Dienhart will present her work at this photo evening. Dienhart specialises in underwater photography and has explored the Indonesian seas for arond a decade. In 2011 she participated in the Championat du Monde de Photo Sous marine.
Ongoing until February 9, A la recherche de la Commedia Del'Arte, Kulturhaus Niederanven
Discover the art behind this traditional art form, its masks and costumes. Performances of Commedia Del'Arte pieces are also on the programme over the course of the exhibition, as well as workshops teaching the intricate craftsmanship behind the shows.

January 19-22, Vakanz Tourism Fair, Luxexpo
With over 200 stalls from all over the world, the fair offers all the information you need to plan your 2012 holidays. Guest country Japan will provide lots of entertainment during the three day fair with music and dance shows. Other countries will be chipping in and visitors get the chance to win holidays in South Tyrol and Berlin.
