Acts of all colours at 'Purple Idols'
Purple Idols, now in its second year, will take place in the Purple Lounge of Casino2000 aiming to be a springboard for local talent from the Greater Region, and you have a chance to win tickets!

When you think of concerts at Casino2000, maybe putting on your best tuxedo listening to jazz, blues, middle of the road music or a Frank Sinatra impersonator springs to mind. While there are some great concerts of this genre both in the large “Chapito” hall and the cozy Purple lounge at the casino, the casino in Mondorf is diversifying with the aim of attracting local younger talent from the pop music world.
With that in mind Casino2000 has been busy organising ‘Purple Idols’, taking place on 26 and 27 January.
As the name suggests, Purple Idols, now in its second year, will take place in the casino’s Purple Lounge aiming to be a springboard for local talent from the Greater Region. Seven acts will take to the stage over two days with the goal of winning a host of great prizes.
Taking advantage of the casino network Mondorf-les-Bains branch is part of, the first prize is quite a big one: The chance of playing a concert at the Royal Casino located near Cannes in the south of France, a concert in the Purple Lounge in Mondorf as part of the festival “Saveurs Culturelles du Monde” (Cultural flavours of the world) and two days at Equinox Productions studios.
Second prize isn’t to be sniffed at either: A concert at the Purple Lounge as part of a festival and a slot at the Longwy festival “Longwy La Nuit 2012”.
And the seven acts, three on 26 and four on 27 January, will nervously take to the stage in front of a jury composed of experts from the music world and an audience with a critical eye, who also get the chance to vote.
“We invited acts from all over the Greater Region to perform at Purple Idols including Luxembourg” explained Manager and event organiser Christian Arend “the response was immediate from acts across the border, but from Luxembourg we had very few replies”, he noted.
The line-up will therefore give the audience many acts to discover and of course judge.
