(CS) At a round table discussion on Monday representatives from the Luxembourg labour unions met with delegates to discuss the revised wage indexation proposed at the end of last year.
All parliamentary groups, including the CSV, LSAP, Déi Gréng, ADR and Déi Lénk, sent delegates to the meeting. However, neither side was able to convince the other of their arguments.
Still, Félix Eischen, from the CSV, said: “We talked with one another. Such talks are never for nothing.”
On Thursday a bill will be presented to change current indexation regulations. Once approved, the index will only be adjusted in-line with inflation once a year until 2015.
The proposal had previously met with criticism from OGBL president Jean-Claude Reding amid fears that an entire index tranche could be lost in the process.
At the meeting on Monday, Reding and other union representatives continued to hold the opinion that the government was taking a stand against employees, saying that Luxembourg's social model will change radically. “The law is a capital error,” said Reding.
