(CS) Care service Help has developed a 24/7 emergency call system to allow older people independence in their lifestyles while being only a button click away from emergency services.
To give older and disabled people more autonomy in their own homes, the system connects to the Help emergency hotline at the click of a button.
The device issued by Help can also store information on medical history, the next of kin, or the treating family doctor which will be passed on to the Help staff during the call, facilitating efficient help in case of emergency. A satellite system is also able to locate the person calling. This makes Help24 especially useful out of doors.
While the service is not for free, Help president John Castegnaro said negotiations were being taken up with the communes to sign conventions for the service.
Via the Help24 network other services are available such as smoke, water, and motion detectors or devices to remote control doors or sound alarm in case of a fall.
Already, an additional service is in the works to inform people on leisure activities in their communes, meals on wheels or on-call doctors. A test trial of 30 people is currently ongoing.
