(CS) The effects of the insolvency of drugstore chain Schlecker on its Luxembourg branch remains uncertain, as deliveries of goods fail to arrive.
Legally, the 28 Schlecker stores in Luxembourg do not fall under the same division as the insolvent German parent company. Still, union secretary Aloyse Kapweiler from the LCGB is not very optimistic as to the brand's future in the Grand Duchy.
Kapweiler said that he toured the Schlecker stores in Luxembourg and found that deliveries of goods had failed to arrive on Monday and Tuesday, and said that he expected this situation to continue during the week.
As the shelves are emptying, Kapweiler said that while the process would be separate from the German Schlecker insolvency, stores in Luxembourg could still be closed.
Schlecker employs around 120 people in Luxembourg. A buyer for the drugstores in the Grand Duchy is not in sight and the LCGB commented that the situation is “not looking too good.”
