(ADW) Luxembourg weather experts based in Findel were not wrong! A flurry of snow on Tuesday night has left a thin yet stubborn coating of snow across Luxembourg. Although the snowfall did stop, roads are passable even if many of them do not appear to have been cleared.
The record low temperatures during the night of Monday to Tuesday morning did improve on Tuesday night with “only” -7 to -11 degrees measured across the country, according to the weather centre based at Findel airport.
A front moving across the region on Tuesday evening was accompanied by snow that did not exceed a few centimetres.
This did seem to catch a few motorists unaware as several accidents were reported by police on Wednesday morning including a driver who was injured when he lost control of his car in Clemency, towards Bascharage at 7:45pm on Tuesday.
So now we are midweek and, for the first time this week, will be cloudy in the morning before blue sky begins to peek through again gradually in the afternoon.
Tomorrow and Friday are expected to alternate between clouds and sun. The original forecast of snow on Friday seems to have been changed and no more snow is now predicted for this week.
But temperatures are the frequent topic of conversation recently as we stare at our thermometers or upload photos of them onto Facebook in what appears to be a “who can register the lowest temperature” contest. It will remain below zero, at least until the weekend as a new cold front is predicted for Friday night and will remain until Sunday.
