(ADW) Claude Wiseler, Minister of Sustainable Development stated on Wednesday that a speed limit of 30km an hour through the streets in an urban area on national roads (N roads), would only be considered as a last resort.
Wiseler went on to explain that measures to ensure road safety , particularly for children in and around school areas, such as road signs, road narrowing, warning lights etc were currently either in use, being installed or being considered. Only once these fail to have an effect would a 30 km speed limit zone be considered.
The Minister was answering a parliamentary question posed by CSV Minister Leon Gloden as to whether or not a "Zone 30" would be set up for national roads alongside public buildings such as schools.
