Fearless hikers walked on water at the Upper Sûre lake in Bavigne on Saturday where the surface of the lake was covered with a thick layer of ice.
The walkers ventured onto the natural, open-air ice rink alongside skaters as word got out about the giant slippery playground.
But, the fun came with a stark warning from local authorities who take no responsibility for any injuries resulting from accidents at the site. Under communal law, members of the public are forbidden from walking on frozen bodies of water except in special circumstances.
Last weekend, skaters slid across the frozen lake at Kockelscheuer, ignoring safety warnings. This weekend, firefighters will monitor skaters at Kockelscheuer while the lake is open as a one-off from 10am to 5pm.
