(CS) Higher education minister François Biltgen has fired back after the EU demanded Luxembourg stop discrimination of cross-border workers, saying student loans were not a matter of social politics, but rather higher education policy.
Some 13,000 euros are given to students in higher education each year by the Luxembourg state, independent of the parents' income and available no matter the country of study. However, a residence clause has been the source of much anger among cross-border workers as it rules that only children of parents living in Luxembourg can apply for the loan.
