Part of the state-run international school Lycée Michel Lucius in Limpertsberg has been forced to close due to the substandard fire resistance conditions in the building.
It was shut with immediate effect on Tuesday afternoon, the ministries of sustainable development and infrastructure, education and public service, announced.
The building, known as 'wing 3000' is said to be below fire standards, in particular due to the type of flooring as well as the poor condition of the electrical installation in the false ceiling, which is said to "constitute a significant fire hazard".
Wing 3000 is one of four wings in the
building and is the only one which has had to close.
In a statement issued by the
ministries, temporary rooms will be available in another wing and in
the former Ecole Française building in Limpertsberg after the half
term holidays.
"The
Public Buildings Administration will examine the possibilities for
finding medium-term solutions that will fully meet the expectations
of the school," the statement highlighted.
Ministers François Bausch, Claude
Meisch and Dan Kersch informed the school on Tuesday afternoon. The
school has informed staff, students and parents.
