Woman found dead between Strassen and Bridel

(ADW) A 27-year-old Romanian woman was found dead at about 5am on Monday in a car park located in the woods between Strassen and Bridel.

The gruesome discovery was made in "Fräiheetsbaam" at the start of several trails that lead through the woods.

According to initial investigations, the death appears to be the result of a violent crime.

The woman was a known prostitute last seen on Sunday in Luxembourg City at about 10pm on the corner of Fort Wendell and Rue Hollerich.

Police and forensics arrived at the scene near Bridel on Monday morning and began combing the area for clues.

One of the main focuses of the investigation is on a black handbag discovered by a Belgian truck driver travelling on the A6 motorway towards Belgium.

It is believed to have been the victim's bag, and when police attempted to find it themselves, it had vanished.

Police are following a lead regarding a blue delivery van. A witness told police they saw the occupant of a blue Mercedes van take the woman's handbag on Monday morning at around 9am. The van occupant is urged to contact police.
