(che/NG) German newspaper "Bild" reported that a truck was stopped near the German-Austrian border at Bad Reichenhall on Tuesday around midnight.
What officials found caused quite a stir: 200 weapons of war, including Kalashnikovs (AK-47 model), were found packed in ten wooden crates.
The destination? A company in Luxembourg.
Questions surrounding the incident caused quite a stir: were the weapons going to be used for terrorist purposes?
The driver was temporarily arrested, and after 14 hours everything was clear: the delivery was in order, and there was authorisation under the
War Weapons Control Act, which in Germany regulates manufacturing, sale and transportation of such weapons.
The truck therefore could continue its journey on Wednesday at 2:45pm.
It remains, however, unclear which company will be receiving the weapons shipment, and for what purpose.
