Oktoberfest is not big in Luxembourg, survey finds

The Bavarian tradition of drinking beer during the month of October in what is known as Oktoberfest has not quite caught on in Luxembourg, yet, a survey has found.

In their question of the month, TNS Ilres quizzed residents on their beer-drinking habits during the month of October.

According to the results, the majority (46%) said they would do nothing special during this period, while a quarter said they would not celebrate the beer festival at all.

Interest in the festival diminished with age as the results showed over a third of respondents aged 65 and above were not interested compared with one in ten under 25s.

Despite the overall lack of interest, just under a fifth of respondents said they would attend a beer festival in Luxembourg.

Only 3% said they would visit Munich during the beer festival while 2% said they would host a beer festival at home.
