(NG) The University of Luxembourg has jumped 15 positions to rank 178 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
Furthermore, among European universities it is now ranked 86, compared to 99 in 2015.
"I am delighted that we were again able to hold our ground and prove our ongoing performance," explained Rainer Klump, University of Luxembourg president. "This ranking is another milestone on the way to permanently establishing the University of Luxembourg among the top positions internationally."
The ranking is just one of many the university has to be proud of. This year, it also ranked 14th among young universities in a different THE ranking.
Top ranking went to the University of Oxford (UK), while the University of Cambridge ranked fourth. The rest of the top seven schools went to US-based universities including the California Institute of Technology and Stanford (places 2 & 3, respectively); and MIT, Harvard and Princeton (respectively ranked 5-7).
The rankings evaluate individual university strengths based on 13 performance indicators in areas such as international orientation, research, teaching and so on. For the full ranking or the methodology, click here.
