Security is to be
reinforced at the court house in Luxembourg City with metal detectors
entering into use from this Friday.
According to a press
release, the entrances to the Superior Court of Justice (CR building)
and Magistrates (JP building) will be equipped with metal
detectors where handbags, backpacks and any other items will be
scanned.
Similar security measures
will shortly come into place in the Youth and Guardianship Court (JT
building) and common building (BC building).
Access to the buildings
will be controlled depending on the security level of a situation,
which will be indicated on screens at the entrances of the different
buildings.
A green phase means that
judges and officials, solicitors from the Luxembourg Bar, and anyone
else with a personal access badge, will have free access to the
buildings concerned. All other persons, including the accused
and witnesses, will go through the detectors and may be subject to
additional screening for other potentially hazardous materials.
Under an orange phase,
the controls will be extended to members of the bar and anyone with a
personal access badge, while in a red phase, everyone will be subject
to controls. Access to the courthouse buildings will be
denied anyone who does not agree to submit to the checks.
