Luxembourg on Wednesday renewed the post of Luxembourg's judge to the European Union's General Court.

on Wednesday appointed Luxembourg's judge to the European
Union's General Court, the European Council announced on Wednesday.
Dean
Spielmann was one of 14 people to be appointed as part of partial
renewals at the General Court.
Spielmann
is a Luxembourgish lawyer and former President of the European Court
of Human Rights.
The 53-year-old completed a Bachelor's degree in law
at the Catholic University of Louvain followed by a Master of Laws in
international law at Cambridge University in 1990 where he was a
Foreign and Commonwealth Office scholar at Fitzwilliam College. He
completed his final Luxembourg Bar entrance examination in 1992.
Following the renewal, Spielmann's
term of office ends August 31, 2022. He was first sworn in as Judge
of the European Court of Human Rights on August 30, 2004.
