(ml/JB) The role of Luxembourg's Grand Ducal Family has been called into question, thanks to a petition calling for a referendum on scrapping the institution.
According to a recent parliamentary question, the Luxembourg State currently subsidises Luxembourg's royals to the tune of around 10 million euros per year; while the State pays 80 of the royal court's staff, a further 23 are exempt from State administrations.
