(AFP/NG) On Thursday, the US National Park Service commemorates its
centennial anniversary by welcoming visitors into all 59 of its national
parks for free through Sunday.
Yellowstone National Park became the world's first
national park in 1872. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the
“Organic Act” which pledged to conserve and protect America's natural
heritage and wildlife “for the enjoyment of future generations.”
