Lawyer James Randolph Evans of Georgia has been nominated to the position.

US President Donald Trump has
officially announced his intention to nominate a Georgia lawyer to be
US Ambassador to Luxembourg.
In a statement on the White House website,
Mr Trump nominated James Randolph Evans of Georgia to the position.
Mr Evans is an attorney, author and
public servant and currently works as a partner at global law firm,
Dentons US LLP, and co-chairs the Georgia Judicial Nominating
Commission.
Between 1995 and 2007 he was Counsel to
the Office of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and he
has been a leader in the American Bar Association and the Georgia Bar
Association.
He has co-authored eight books and is a
syndicated columnist writing on ethics, climate change and current
events. Mr. Evans attended West Georgia College, Carrollton, Georgia,
and the University of Georgia Law School (Juris Doctor 1983), Athens,
Georgia.
The previous US Ambassador to
Luxembourg, David McKean, left his post in January 20 – the day
Donald Trump became President of the United States – after less
than a year in the role.
