Wort’s on – Halloween events special
Join in with the Halloween hype this year at a handful of events around the Grand Duchy. From spooky storytelling to the traditional facepainting and not forgetting the cinematic fright-fest, there is plenty to choose from this year.


CINEMA
Until 20 October: Hotel Transylvania 2, Utopolis, Cine Starlight, Scala, Cinemaacher (various times)
Sony Pictures brings back Drac and the gang, this time with half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis. Attempts to make Dennis into a vampire go askew when Drac’s father, Vlad arrives at the hotel. Certificate 6+. Book tickets
30 October: The Green Inferno, Horror Genre, Utopolis Kirchberg/Belval, 9.30pm
Get ready for some on-screen frights as a group of student activists travel to the Amazon to save the rainforest and discover they are not alone, and that no good deed goes unpunished. Certificate 18. Book tickets.
31 October: The Visit, Horror Genre, Utopolis Kirchberg/Belval, 9.30pm
M Night Shyamalan (famous for the Sixth Sense, The Last Airbender), returns to our screens with a story of two children sent for the first time to spend two weeks on their grandparents’ farm. The children soon discover that one of the grandparents is involved in something very disturbing. What are their chances of returning home? Certificate 12. Book tickets.
THEATRE & SHOWS
31 October: David Goldrake’s Imaginarium, Kinneksbond, Mamer, 4pm and 8pm
David Goldrake’s spectacular illusion show combines the classics of magic with innovative experiments in mind reading and escapology, music, choreography and the modern technology of 3D projection mapping to provide a pyrotechnic display of spectacular showstoppers. Book tickets.
BARS & CLUBS
30 & 31 October: Halloween: From Dusk until Dawn, Magnum, 10pm (Free entry).
Dusk till Dawn dancing over two gory nights with DJs Caine and ND. Minimum age 21. More details on Magnum.
31 October: Rise of the Dead, Urban Bar, 10pm-2am (Free entry)
Shake your ghoul thing, with free shots for costumes, at Urban’s spooktacular party. More details on Urban Bar.
30 & 31 October: Halloween Toxic 2015, Smugglers Inn, Diekirch, 7pm (Cost €17.50)
Billed as the scariest and biggest Halloween party, diners can choose from two menus plus a welcome shot, and enjoy the addition of ghosts, spooky decorations and other surprises. More details on Smugglers Inn.
31 October: Dia de los Muertos with DJ Ghost, Konrad's Cafe & Bar, 9pm
In honor of the Mexican tradition of the day of the dead, Venezuelan DJ Ghost will be at the turntable, with special guests joining throughout the evening. More details on the Konrad Facebook event page.
30 & 31 October: Malloween – 2 bloody nights, M Club, Hollerich, 10pm
Dress up and party until dawn with the DJ’s at M-Club. Free entry before Midnight, €6 after the witching hour. More details on M Club.
31 October: Halloween, Ennert de Steiler, 8pm
This year's adventures at Steiler include dead French maids and butlers behind the bar and plenty of music. More details on Steiler.
FAMILY FUN
24 October – 6 November: Trauliicht, Tourist Centre Robbesscheier, Munhausan
Experience a Luxembourgish Halloween carving beet lanterns, with songs and stories and a lantern procession as well as a campfire. Whole day workshops cost €22 and start at 10am, half day workshops cost €15 and start at 1.30pm. More details on Robbesscheier.
24 October: Halloween at Vianden Castle, 4pm
The Parents Association of Vianden has organised stories, crafts and games for children.
24 October: Halloween Parade, Arlon, Belgium, 2.30pm
Children and pets alike can dress up and take part in the Arlon Halloween parade departing from the main square. Sweets will be on offer from traders, and the best costumes win cinema tickets. More details on the parade.

30 October: Witch talk in the Rural Museum in Peppange, from 7pm
Participate in a talk about witches from Nicole Brix, a story-telling teacher from Fieldgen school. Entry 5 euros per person. www.musee-rural.lu
31 October: Halloween for Kids, Luxlait Vitarium, Roost, 2-7pm
Interactive activities including muffin baking, horror face painting, clowns, costume competitions and lots to eat and drink at Luxembourg’s showcase diary. Parents go free, kids cost €22. Reservation by 29 October. More details on Luxlait Vitarium.
31 October: Torch walk in the woods, Centre d’accueil Ellergronn, Esch-sur-Alzette, 6-9pm
Parents of 6-11 year olds are invited to walk in the forest with torches and enjoy spooky stories around the campfire (Luxembourgish only). Costs €7 Adult, €5 child. More details on the walk.
31 October: Spooks for kids and adults in the Rural Museum in Peppange, 2pm-4pm
Youngsters aged from 8 to 14 can take part in facepainting and pumpkin carving at this quaint little museum, just a stone's throw from the capital. Participation costs 2 euros per child. From 8pm, the museum fear factor is ratcheted up a gear with a creepy visit of the old farmhouse and plenty of spooky surprises. Young people aged 10 to 17 go free.
