October 9-11: Flowers In The Desert - Nature Elements Am Garage Cafe – times vary
Actors Repertory Theatre Luxembourg kicks off the autumn English language theatre programme with Flowers in the Desert, a play about relationships taking place at Nature Elements Am Garage Cafe (inside Robine de Lac) 70 Route d’Esch 1470 Luxembourg. October 9: Chipping, dance, Grand Théâtre, 8pm
Choreographer Anna Konjetzky explores the state of restlessness, a them which is particularly relevant in a society where people are faced with information overload, constant accessibility and availability and boundless freedom of choice. In Chipping, the whole stage seems to vibrate with constant motion. Cubes move back and forth – sometimes slowly, sometimes barely visible, sometimes fast and overwhelming. Set in 1980s Czechoslovakia, young talented sprinter Anna (Judit Bárdos) is selected for the national team and starts training to qualify for the Olympic Games. As a part of the preparation she is placed in a secret "medical programme" where she's getting doped with anabolic steroids. Subtitled in French. Screening includes talk with director. After 3 studio albums time has come for local hip hop artist T the Boss to take a look back at the past few years' work, with a special Best Of CD called Hip Hop For Life 2. October 10: Klezmafour & Balkan Party with DJ Kosta Kostov, Melusina, 8pm
A lively and energetic party kicks off the CinEast film festival in Luxembourg. Klezmafour takes its inspiration from the Jewish Klezmer music from Eastern Europe, adding in their own brand of jazz, punk and rock. Concert followed by DJ set from Kosta Kostov. www.cineast.lu
October 10: Bloody Beetroots, Atelier, 8pm
Legendary Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo of The Bloody Beetroots unleashes his newest musical iteration - SBCR. While The Bloody Beetroots remain an eclectic, rock-influenced live electronic band, SBCR is Bob’s strictly DJ-performance moniker under which he releases similarly dancefloor-driven productions. SBCR & Friends will hit the floor at the A. It's going to be Rifo’s signature electro-house, dance-punk flavour that showcases his renowned production prowess. October 11: Tu es Petrus, St Alphonse Church, 5pm
Choral polyphony, directed by Mick Swithinbank, performing music by Renaissance and earlier composers which highlight the episodes in the life of St Peter and chronicle the seasons of the church year. Sung in Latin by the seven members of The Art of Music voice ensemble.
MUSEUMS
October 10: Children's workshops, Casino, 3pm
Youngsters can explore art in a fun way through these workshops, which often provide a chance to meet artists face-to-face. In the workshop, participants will be encourage to unleash their creativity and make a work of art themselves. For five to 12-year-olds. www.casino.lu
October 10: Storytelling for families, Musée d'Histoire de la Ville, 6pm
Youngsters aged from 6 to 12 will be able to get a different view of the Musée d'Histoire de la Ville through this storytelling event offered by Anne-Karen de Tournemire and Eleonora Pasti, who use stories, music and puppetry. October 10: La nuit des musées, Luxembourg museums late opening, times vary Explore Luxembourg's museums by night when they keep their doors open a little later than usual. Guided visits will be offered in participating museums as will tasty food. Because of renovations, the Nature Museum will be closed. October 11: Peppage Rural Museum, from 2pm
Peppange's rural museum gets fired up about the country's history on Sunday when it will light an ancient furnace that was originally used for smelting iron. Iron was smelted in the south of Luxembourg or the red earth area, thus named for its iron sediment. A smithy will demonstrate how the furnace would have been used.
October 11: Klik-Klak activities for familes, Casino, 3pm
Casino Luxembourg offers a workshop for families to encourage them to make something inspired by the works they see in the museum. Participants may make whatever they wish using the materials provided. www.casino.lu

October 10-18: Home and Living Expo/Foire d'Automne, Luxexpo, 10am-7pm (weekends), 5 euros for adults

October 10-11: Parc Merveilleux de Bettembourg
It's the last chance this year to visit the popular animal park in Bettembourg. After this weekend, the site closes to the public for the winter. www.parc-merveilleux.lu
October 10: Day of laughter in Differdange, Aalt Stadhaus, from 3pm to 10pm
Smiling and laughter will be the order of the day in Differdange's cultural centre where a number of activities are planned, including readings, cabaret shows and other theatrical performances. Not forgetting clowns and magicians to make little ones chuckle. Entry is free.
October 10: Check your mushrooms are edible, Maison de la Nature, Kockelscheuer, 6pm-7.30pm
Mushroom pickers can check their harvest is edible when specialists will be on-hand at the nature house on Saturday evening. As a reminder, members of the public may collect wild mushrooms in Luxembourg provided their harvest does not exceed 1 kilo per person, per day. www.mycology.lu

October 10-11: Hierschtfest Belair, Belair centre St Jena, 110 Av Gaston Diderich, times vary
The Belair district of Luxembourg City will host a small autumn fair over the weekend, featuring a bazaar, viz (apple juice), live music, barbecue, games, bouncy castle and more. All funds rased go to charity projects in the Central African Republic. Saturday from 3pmt o 9pm, Sunday from 11am to 6pm. www.facebook.com
October 11: Vianden "Nessmoort" or Nut fair, from 10am onwards
Vianden's nut market has some cracking events lined up on Sunday. As well as a chance to buy some tasty local produce made from walnuts, such as licqueurs, bread and cakes, you can party all afternoon as the market doubles up as a street party.Be warned, parking can be tricky. Arrive early to be sure of a space.
October 11: Eat It! street food festival, Rotondes, from 12 noon, Free
Make sure you go with an appetite to what is Luxembourg's first street-food festival. In addition to some of the familiar food trucks, there are expected to be stands selling all kinds of mouth-watering cuisines. www.facebook.com
October 11: Record Fair, Rotondes, 10am
More than 50 vendors from France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands will be selling their wares at this record, CD, DVD and Blu-ray fair. www.rotondes.lu
