(JB) Luxembourg motorists can find out if their vehicle is affected by the VW diesel emissions scam by checking the chassis number online, the group has said.
It recently emerged that defeat devices aimed at cheating emissions tests were fitted to around 11 million vehicles, including Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and SKODA brand vehicles equipped with diesel EA189 motors.
Any new vehicles which meet the EU6 standard or vehicles equipped with a diesel engine that is not EA 189, are not affected.
To check if a vehicle is affected, VW group urged car owners to enter the chassis number on the Luxembourg website of the brands in question.
“After entering the chassis number, you will see immediately if your vehicle is affected. As an alternative, customers can contact the national call centre on 352 261212-777 or their dealer by providing the vehicle chassis number,” the group said in a press statement.
All customers affected by the scam will be informed as soon as possible. The group underlined that all vehicles were technically sound and can be driven.
Later this month, the group and other brands will present an action plan on how to provide technical solutions to the Luxembourg authorities.
Customers are to be informed of any developments.
