Ireland and Luxembourg shared their thoughts on integrating refugees in Luxembourg during a special meeting.
Luxembourg Integration Minister Corinne Cahen met with Ireland Ambassador Peadar Carpenter on Tuesday to discuss the Grand Duchy's strategy for helping refugees integrate.
“Integration is achieved through education, learning of languages and work,” Minister Cahen said, outlining the initial steps taken.
Both agreed that an equal distribution of refugees throughout the country would ease integration.
Like most of Europe, Ireland is faced with a massive influx of asylum seekers from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
According to the UNHCR, Ireland has resettled 610 Syrian refugees since 2013.
