(AFP) The beloved heroine of schoolgirl generations past, Nancy Drew, is headed to the small screen.
But unlike the innocent, plucky teenager with a curious and
uncanny nose for solving relatively innocuous mysteries, the version
created by CBS will bring an older, more seasoned woman to the screen,
according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Now in her 30s, Drew is made into a detective for the NYPD, where her
powers of observation are used to solve more gruesome crimes.
It's not the first time Drew has been brought to life for TV. In the
late 1970s, network ABC aired "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" for
three seasons. The series starred Pamela Sue Martin as Drew.
The contemporary version of the show will be helmed by "Grey's Anatomy" alums Joan Rater and Tony Phelan.
