Youngsters who spent their summers with their noses in a book were rewarded with a special party at a Luxembourg crèche.
Altogether 86 youngsters from Sunflower Crèche in Moutfort accepted the summer reading challenge to read 12 different types of books in English over the holiday.
A total 50 youngsters succeeded and were awarded with a congratulatory letter from the British Ambassador to Luxembourg Alice Walpole as well as a prize.
Their achievements were celebrated at a reading party hosted on Saturday where the best and most exotic reading location photos were also judged.
The challenge was set at the start of the summer by Ophelia Gartside of the Little English Bookworm pop-up book shop, to encourage children to read different types of books.
Little English Bookworm also donated 350 euros to the IOP programme for books for a new Primary School as part of the Ilula Orphan , supporting vulnerable, abandoned and orphaned children with education.
It wants to break the vicious circle of poverty, illness, ignorance, HIV infection and give the local population new hope for the future by creating concrete and sustainable programs. Initiatives will include sponsoring of studies, foster families, orphan center and diverse fund-raising activities.
