(JB) Luxembourg Police are to recruit 106 new trainee officers this year, instead of the 80 originally planned, in order to ensure public safety in the country.
The Interior Security Ministry confirmed the news this week in a press release.
“Anxious to provide the Grand Ducal police with the resources necessary to best ensure public safety, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Security, Etienne Schneider, has decided to recruit 106 police volunteers in 2015, and not only 80 as originally planned,” the release said.
The recruits will undergo basic and tactical training at the Police Academy before being hired as police officers.
Following a decision made by the Council of Government on September 18, 2015, it is planned to recruit a total of 346 new officers until 2018.
