(JB) The number of jobseekers in Luxembourg has fallen by 2.4 percent over the course of a year leaving the unemployment rate stable at 6.9 percent.
According to figures published by ADEM, there were 17,150 people officially registered out-of-work in Luxembourg at the end of August, a drop of 424 people compared with the same month the year before.
This evolution appears to have benefited most jobseekers in the under 30 group. The proportion of people in this age bracket who were out of work fell by 6.8 percent over the same period.
Things were not so rosy for jobseekers aged 50 and over who saw unemployment in this group rise 2.3 percent.
During the course of August 2015, 1,598 people were registered as unemployed with ADEM, of which 621 registered for the first time.
It showed a slight rise compared with August 2014, when 1,594 were registered.
The number of people benefiting from a job retention programme fell by 5.1 percent to 6,917.
Employers reported 2,312 vacant posts to ADEM during the month of August, up by 356 compared to the year before.
