Eight people were injured, two of them seriously, when a bus transporting seven mentally handicapped youths to a care facility, plunged down a slope in Clervaux on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at about 8.30am on Rue de la Gare when the bus veered off the road, down a slope ending up on its roof astride a small river.
The bus driver and one of the youths suffered serious injuries, reported emergency services.
The six other passengers were only slightly injured, but all bus occupants were rushed to hospital in Ettelbrück, Wiltz and the Zitha Clinic in Luxembourg City.
According to a police report, the accident happened when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle on a sharp bend with the back of the bus breaking through a railing by the side of the road.
The bus then plunged down, flipping over and ending upside-down, straddled across the river.
It has been reported that train services have been stopped for security regions in the area, apparently related to the accident, and replacement buses have been put in place between Kautenbach and Troisvierges.
The bus wreckage was later lifted from the gulley using a crane.
