(JB) Luxembourg's workforce continues to grow after the number of people in employment rose by 2.6 percent in the second quarter of the year, compared with the year before.
From the first to the second quarter of 2015, employment rose 0.7 percent, driven largely by the business services and ICT sectors.
The most important sectors for employment were legal, accounting and consulting activities along with data hosting activities. These sectors were responsible for more than a third (35 percent) of new jobs, and 19 percent of the total labour market.
The fastest growing sectors for jobs were specialised activities and ICT in which job numbers rose 6.1 percent and 4.5 percent respectively.
The number of cross-border workers employed in Luxembourg rose at a faster rate than resident workers, up 3.3 percent compared with 2.1 percent from 2014 to 2015.
Among residents, the number of workers from the European Union grew by 2.9 percent and from non-EU member states, it rose by 5.9 percent.
