The ninth edition of “Nuit des Lampions” or night of the lanterns, turned Witz into a magical fairy-like wonderland on Saturday night, enchanting the public who flocked to the town for annual event.
Among other events, a magical evening ensued as the "Jardin de Wiltz" was lit up by lanterns positioned around the park and in the trees creating a fairy-tale world.
Organised by the town of Wiltz and the orgaisation “Cooperations”, Nuit des Lampions was in fact the brainchild of British artist Brian Tweedle who, back in 2007, came up with the idea as part of a programme for "Luxembourg and the Greater Region, Cultural Capital of Europe".
But why stop there? Since 2007 the event has gone from strength to strength and become a integral part of the Wiltz culture calendar.
To make the pretty lanterns, artist worked with disabled people, disadvantaged children and the unemployed.
The highlight of the evening was a performance by theatre group "PAN.OPTIKUM" hailing from Freiburg in Germany.
