PERFORMING ARTS
September 19: Cinema screening of Aida from the Sydney Opera House, Ciné Starlight, 8.30pm
Verdi fans in Luxembourg can almost imagine they're in Sydney Harbour, Australia when Ciné Starlight in Dudelange screns this opera performed in Italian with English subtitles.
September 20: Theaterfest, Neimënster Abbey, from 11am
This theatre festival promises a raft of performances and shows throughout the day. Among the many highlights will be the Caravane des petites Merveilles (caravan of small wonders) for youngsters, a children's theatre workshop and workshops for adults to 'Free the Speaking Voice'. Also not to be missed is the interactive audio installation, a crime-story-cum-scavenger hunt, which only two people can visit at a time. Be sure to sign up early to see it. www.theatre.lu

Ingrid Bergman stars in this Hitchcock thriller as a spy recruited to win the affections of a Nazi hiding out in Brazil.

September 19: Lata Gouveia, Kulturfabrik, Esch-sur-Alzette
Luxembourg singer-songwriter Lata Gouveia brings his band to the former abattoir in Esch-sur-Alzette. He has been described as like Dire Straits meets Nashville but is moving into different genres with his latest music. September 19: Black Dyke (brass) Band, Artikuss, 8pm

September 19 & 20: Schlaiffmillen artist workshop open door event, Bonnevoie, times vary
This is a once-a-year chance to go inside one of the most curious artists' workshops in the country – located in an old watermill in the forest between Hamm and Bonnevoie. A number of artists in residence will exhibit their work at the venue in 10, rue Godchaux, L1634 Luxembourg. Open Saturday from 3pm and Sunday from 12 noon. To get there by car, go via rue de la Montagne in Hamm.

Casino Luxembourg offers a workshop for families to encourage them to make something inspired by the works they see in the museum. Participants may make whatever they wish using the materials provided.
September 20: Guest Work- Zurbaran, artist talk, Musée national d'histoire et d'art Luxembourg, 4pm
View works of art by Francisco de Zurbaran, a Spanish baroque painter from the 17th Century, known for his monastic representations. The Martyr of St Sébastien was for a long time kept hidden from public view. A guided tour in English is offered. Mnha.lu

September 18-20: Bike Art Film Festival, Rotondes, times vary
Check out the second edition of BAFF whose line-up includes two feature films: Bikes vs Cars and Cyclique, as well as a bike repair workshop, second-hand sale, art exhibitions and more. The festival culminates in a bike tour quiz of the capital. www.baff.lu
September 18: Fiesta- Party at creativity hub 1535° in Differdange, 6pm to 10pm
Piazza Verde is a green space at the heart of creativity project 1535° set in a former industrial site. In this special public event, residents harvest the fruit and veg of their labours for a shared meal. A number of talks are planned as well as DJ music and more. 115, rue Émile-Mark, Differdange.
September 19: Rugby Club Walferdange Open Day, from 11am

The seventh edition of the great book market gets underway in Differdange on Satruday, offering a chance to buy and sell books. On both days there will be activities to keep youngsters occupied, including a treasure hunt. There will also be a competition for adults. Saturday 2pm to 6pm, Sunday 11am-6pm.
September 19: Dippach Multicultural Festival, Dippach Pavillon, 11am to 7pm
MultiCulti2015 kicks off with a concert by Fanfare Schouweiler-Springkange, followed by the opening of the international food village featuring specialities from various parts of Africa, The UK, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia and Italy (among others). The afternoon's events line-up includes Oriental dancing with Asar Bellydance (2pm to 4pm), a bagpipe concert from the Luxembourg Pipe Band (3pm to 5pm) and a show from Juventude Portugesa de Dudelange (6pm). Magician David Giacomini will also show off his magic tricks.
September 20: 6-hour bike ride, Luxembourg-Gasperich, from 11am to 5pm
The fifth edition of the 6 Stonne Vëlo (6-hour bike relay) kicks off on Sunday at the Cloche d'Or, in Gasperich (south of Luxembourg City). Teams may enter with a maximum of six riders to race non-stop over six hours around a 2.1-kilometre circuit. Beginners and experienced cyclists alike are all welcome. 6stonnevelo.rtl.lu
