(ADW) Staff at the University of Luxembourg in Esch-Belval were surprised to be greeted by large crowds in the new “Maison du Savoir” on Monday morning.
Despite the first courses starting on Monday afternoon, many turned up to the morning presentation for the opening at the university where some 900 students are expected.
University Rector Rainer Klump spoke of an exceptional day for the university, for the South and for the country as a whole.
The Mayor of Esch-sur-Alzette, Vera Spautz, stated that the decision to relocate the university to Esch-Belval was “one of the nicest gifts that could be made to a town that had suffered from a declining steel industry”.
