(JB/TJ) Farmers managed to scupper a high profile meeting of EU agriculture ministers in Luxembourg by blockading roads with their tractors.
On Monday around 70 disgruntled farmers took to the roads in the north of Luxembourg, around Kalborn, where ministers were to be given an introduction to regional produce.
The farmers wanted to draw attention to the decline in prices, which is placing a strain on Luxembourg producers.
In Luxembourg, the price of milk has fallen dramatically in recent months.
Farmers held a protest in Luxembourg City at the end of August for the same reasons. Following Monday morning's demonstration, a delegation of farmers was immediately heard by the ministers.
On Tuesday, EU agriculture ministers will meet for the political part of the meeting in Kirchberg, Luxembourg City.
