Amazon has settled a tax dispute with French authorities for an undisclosed sum, just over five years after it was targeted in the country for a bill of almost €200 million and amid mounting EU pressure on tech giants to pay their fair share of taxes.
The US group said in a statement on Monday: "We have reached a comprehensive settlement agreement with the French tax authorities on past issues and our main objective remains to provide the best possible buying experience for our clients in France." Amazon declined to comment on the size or details of the settlement.
