Transport measures are being put in place across Kirchberg following repeated complaints about "intense traffic".
Residents in the area claim the transport situation along boulevard Konrad Adenauer and the circuit de la Foire area has worsened since changes were made to bus routes in December, when the first section of the tram opened.
The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastrcture is now making changes to public transport with the hope of reducing the number of bus journeys through the area from around 1,900 a day to 1,340 between now and June.
By next year, the ministry hopes the number will have decreased to 1,100 journeys a day.
In April, part of the Luxexpo bus terminal will be available, and some RGTR buses will no longer run through Kirchberg, reducing the number of journeys by 100 a day.
In June, the tram will be extended to the Place de l'Etoile, where buses coming from western Luxembourg will end their journey.
Bus numbers 144 and 194 will follow a new route when reaching Kirchberg.
These changes will see a reduction of 460 daily journeys through Kirchberg.
Next year, the Luxexpo station will be operational, where a further 200 buses will end their journeys and passengers will make their way to the city centre by tram.
By February 2021, no RGTR buses are expected to be running through Kirchberg, mainly due to the completion of phase three of the tram to the central station.
