DP/CSV coalition's plans for Luxembourg City
On Monday evening, the DP/CSV coalition presented its programme for the next six years.

Lydie Polfer, the Democratic Party (DP) mayor of Luxembourg City, and her DP and Christian Social People's Party (CSV) aldermen presented their gameplan for the city for the next six years on Monday evening.
The coalition said its priority was to preserve the high quality of life in the capital, as well as promote its economic attractiveness.
To achieve that goal, it will focus on eight issues: urban development, housing, mobility, education, integration, environment and security.
In its declaration, the council said progress would come only through "coherent action" in all those areas and teamwork between public powers and private actors.
In terms of urban development, the coalition said the new urban development plan would serve as a general framework for the development of new neighbourhoods, as well as the internal development of existing neighbourhoods.
To help young families settle in Luxembourg City, the coalition intends to facilitate access to affordable housing, whether renting or buying.
Social housing is also at the top of the agenda for the lawmakers, who pledged further investments.
The coalition intends to invest more in education infrastructure and staff, as well as community/activity centres.
Common interests
On the mobility issue in Luxembourg City, the council said the challenge would be to reconcile the interests of people living in the city with the interests of the people travelling in on a daily basis for work.
Public transportation is another priority for the new team, which will seek to reduce the number of commuters.
Creating new green spaces will also form part of the coalition's plan to pursue sustainable environmental policies.
In terms of security, one of the new council's main priorities, the coalition intends to lead talks with the government to receive a "substantial" enhancement of police force in Luxembourg City.
The DP/CSV coalition will lead the city until at least 2023 and replaces a previous coalition between the DP and the Greens.
The various departments have been distributed among the mayor and aldermen as follows:
- Lydie Polfer (DP), mayor: Administration, Personnel, Communication, Culture, Urban Development, Security
- Serge Wilmes (CSV), 1st alderman: Urban Development, Technology, Trade, Tourism
- Simone Beissel (DP): Infrastructure and New Buildings, Emergencies, Sport and Leisure
- Colette Mart (DP): Education
- Patrick Goldschmidt (CSV): Mobility, Environment, Integration of People with Specific Needs, Fetes and Markets Service
- Isabel Wiseler-Lima (CSV): Social Help, Seniors, Apartment Building, Equality between Men and Women, Integrationpolitics, Youth
- Laurent Mosar (CSV): Finances, Wealth, Topography
