Politics in Luxembourg has become increasingly polarised, as shown by the results of the latest Politmonitor survey, commissioned by the Luxemburger Wort and RTL. On the question of public confidence, neither the government, nor the opposition, nor the social partners could pull away from the pack.
Public trust in most bodies, after dropping to a historic low in June 2015, seems to have rebounded, however. Following the referendum of 2015, all players – the government, opposition, unions, workers and political parties – suffered a blow in trust scores. At the time, for example, only 33% of respondents said they trusted the government, while 43% said they trusted the opposition.
