Donald Trump sought to connect his presidency to the nation's prosperity in his first State of the Union address, arguing that the US has arrived at a "new American moment" of wealth and opportunity.
The president largely dispensed with his trademark antagonism in a bid for bipartisanship, portraying his administration – marked in his first year by discord – as working to build a "safe, strong and proud America".
